Hawaiian ham and pineapple pizza in barbecue sauce - home baked from scratch

Hawaiian ham and pineapple pizza in barbecue sauce. This thick crust pizza is entirely homemade from scratch.
Ingredients
Pizza dough
  • 1¼ cup : Bread flour + more for dusting
  • 1 tsp : Active dry yeast
  • ½ tsp : Sugar to feed the yeast
  • 1 tbsp : Olive oil + more for greasing
  • ½ tsp : Salt
  • ½ cup : Warm water + more as required
Pizza topping and sauce
  • ½ cup : Pineapple (chopped)
  • 1 or 2 Jalapenos (thinly sliced)
  • ½ cup : Proscuitto ham bits
  • 3-4 tbsp : Barbecue sauce
Instructions
  1. In a large bowl, sift the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the olive oil.
  2. In a separate small bowl, soak the yeast in 3-4 tbsp warm water, leave for couple of minutes.
  3. Stir to dissolve the yeast and add the sugar and leave it for 10 minute to let the yeast foamed and rise.
  4. Once the yeast foams, it is consider good enough to use in the dough.
  5. Add the yeast in the flour and mix it well.
  6. Add some more warm water to the dough and knead it for 5 minute till it come together.
  7. Leave for coiple of minutes.
  8. Knead the dough for 10 minutes, till it becomes smooth. Kneading will help the gluten to develop.
  9. Grease the bowl with olive oil and put the dough in it. Cover with a kitchen towel and keep the bowl in a warm and darught free area.
  10. Let the dough rasie to double in volume and this may take 1 to 2 hour depending upon the room temperature.
  11. Once the dough sufficiently rasied, punch it down and again knead for 2 or 3 minutes.
  12. Preheat the oven to 400 F.
  13. Place the pizza stone in the oven, if you do not have pizza stone, you can use cookie sheet too.
  14. On a slightly flour dusted surface, roll out the dough. Give it a shape you like.
  15. Lightly grease it with olive oil and basted it with barbecue sauce.
  16. Arrange the toppings of pineapple, ham and jalapenos, and cover it with shredded mozarella cheese.
  17. Place the prepared pizza on the preheated pizza stone or cookie sheet and bake for 15 minutes till the base becomes slightly crusty.
  18. Cut the pizza with the help of pizza cutter and serve immediately.
