May Ma Durga fills your life with prosperity and happiness.
The festival is over and life is slowly retreating back to its normalcy. The word “Durga puja” becomes synonym with Bengali and Kolkata and it becomes the epitome of Bengali culture and heritage. So nothing surprises that it is being celebrated throughout the world where ever Bengali settlements are there. Unlike Kolkata where countdown for puja starts itself from Mahalaya, places like Bangalore silently decked up for this grand festival amid rains and floods that have marooned many districts of Karnataka.
Bangalore is home to many Bengalees and some of the Durga puja are as old as 55-60 yrs. Here most of the Durga puja are organized by Bengali cultural associations either in some exhibition grounds or in kalyana mantapas. So no need to erect structures for glorified pandals and more emphasize are put on pratima, puja, prasad, bhog and cultural programmes. In short Durga puja in Bangalore is relatively a homely affair.
