Vanilla & Orange Chia Popsicle Smoothie –
A great summer smoothie option, this recipe is fruity and refreshing (like all summer drinks should be) while having a creamy layer that sets it apart from its counterparts. The tangy oranges combined with the subtle vanilla creates a healthy and delicious smoothie combination for standing around the BBQ.
The key fats in chia seeds help to lock in the nutrients and stop them from going mouldy which means they will last a while in storage. The antioxidants in the chia seeds help to rid the body of toxins as well as maintain good eye and skin health and have even been linked to reducing or slowing the signs of aging.
Although they are actually high in carbohydrates, most of these are healthy fiber which aim to keep you feeling fuller for longer and reduce hunger cravings after they have been consumed. In addition to this the fiber does not raise blood sugar when consumed which means they are suitable for diabetics or those with IBS or gut related issues.
Everyone knows that oranges are full of vitamin C which boost the immune system and keep you healthy and reduce the likelihood that you get sick. However, many do not release that oranges have many other benefits including lowering high cholesterol and blood pressure due to the anti-inflammatory properties they contain.
- Ingredients (3 Servings)
- 2 Oranges
- ¼ Cup Greek yogurt
- 1 Frozen Banana
- 1 ½ Tablespoons Chia Seeds
- ½ Cup Orange juice
- 1 ½ Tablespoons Vanilla Extract
- ½ Cup ice
- Add all of the ingredients to a blender (making sure to peel and cut the oranges first) and mix until smooth and delicious.
- Leave to stand for 2-4 minutes to enjoy

The ice in this recipe aims to reduce the thickness of the smoothies because in the summer when you are hot, the last thing you want it a heavy drink, plus the ice will chill it to the perfect temperature to cool you down.
