Well , we Bongs have an undying adulation towards this bottle gourd vegetable. Which can be prepared in myriad of ways. It's peels, greens, stalks all goes into making some iconic dishes in Bengali cuisine.
.
This bottle gourd sabzi is simple dish with minimal combination of flavours. NO ONIONS NO GARLIC NO TOMATOES
lightly scented with cumin seeds, sharpness of ginger, heat from green chillies and uniquely flavoured with lentil fritters .
But the way we cut the vegetable, makes all the differences.

An unique aspect of our Bengali cuisine where we put lots of emphasize on cuts of vegetables. Like for dalna all the veggies must be of equal shape and size, for chenchki - veggies must be Julienne with utmost precision.

I have immense respect 🙏for icecream photographer who can scoop out the "perfect scoop' of ice cream, with super perfect "icecream texture" that screams icecream in every possible way and can even manage to put that crisp mint on top.
.
Here is my "Flawsome" Vanilla Icecream with hot chocolate sauce. The icecream that was stubborn as hell and keeps on melting...and in a way it teaches me two things- patience and perseverance.
But good or bad I have to share this on Insta. as advised by my kid.

Monsoon is the season when river shores are swamped with egg- laden Fishes. Not all but fish roe obtained from rohu, katla the carps and hilsa is much in demand.
.
Fish roes are very nutritious and we enjoy it as snack as well as in curries
This is fish roe fritter curry with ridgegourd / jhinge / turai in light gravy. This with steamed rice is what calls for favourite Monsoon food, other than the khichuri.

This happened last Friday when I was down with vaccination, which was un planned.
But dinner menu was already decided and the kid won't settle for anything less.
👨‍🍳 Hubby donned the apron, and cooked the best fried rice I ever had. Proving once again that he is known in the family as Mr.Perfection and there's a reason for that.😍.
Kid and my mom set up the entire scene for photoshoot. ❤️ All I had to do was to press the button only. 😊

Rasabali- the name itself sounds so delicious and luscious, melt in mouth sweet dish. The chenna is lovingly caressed and shaped into roundels, then simmered in milk speckled with nuts and saffron over lazy heat slowly.
The end results would always be those juicy succulent Rasbali.

Delectable to the core, so moreish even Lord Jagganath couldn't resist it.
